Dr. Tyler Nelson
-
I’m Tyler, the owner and content creator for Camo4. I’m psyched about all things related to the science of rehabilitation and training.
I got my bachelor's degrees in Salt Lake City, studying Social & Behavioral Science (why I love tattoos) and Human Biology.
While finishing four years of what I'd call "modern" chiropractic school, I also finished a master’s degree in sports science & rehabilitation (exercise science).
After graduate school, I studied for the CSCS (certified strength & conditioning specialist) exam and opened a clinic in Salt Lake City with the intent of helping individuals better understand injuries and rehabilitation. This is where I stopped being a chiro. I’ve never believed in, and still don’t to this day, some of the weird, outdated theories that accompany this profession (neither did my dad). I’m much more interested in educating people on how resilient their bodies are and how lifestyle and activity modifications are more critical for long-term health and prevention than becoming dependent on any conservative healthcare treatment. I was the student in school who would call out “bull $#!*” during class.
I now have a small office at The Industry in downtown SLC, Utah, where I take Zoom calls, do diagnostic ultrasound imaging for in-state clients, and write rehab/training programs. Within the last two years, with the help of researcher Chris Beardsley, I’ve invested my time in trying to understand finger training physiology for climbers. The problem of finger length size, modes of training, frequency, duration, intensity, etc., is all so new that it deserves further exploration.

Zoe Sayetta, M.S.
-
“I love three things: Coaching, climbing and cats. Growing up as a competitive gymnast, my love for movement developed early. I have always had a deep appreciation for the human body and its simultaneous strength and vulnerability. It wasn’t until I began coaching competitive gymnastics that I saw the same potential for strength and vulnerability reflected in the mind. With the unrelenting intensity of gymnastics culture, I began to question if high performance sport could co-exist with a healthy culture and approach.
In pursuit of an answer to that question, I chose to study kinesiology and sport psychology in grad school and happened to start climbing around the same time. I immediately fell in love with the culture, complexity and overall lifestyle of climbing and it wasn’t long before I began coaching a local youth team.
After years of coaching and education, I finally have an answer to my question. With the right physical and mental preparation, high performance and health can co-exist. I would be stoked to be a part of the team that helps you achieve your goals in a healthy and sustainable way.”

Self-Guided Training
What Camp4 coaches offer:
-
Cutting-edge and customized training programs created for the individual athlete.
No two climbers are the same, and no two training programs are either.
-
In order to optimize a training program we start with a needs analysis.
Each athlete has specific needs based on their training history, body type, and skill level.
Testing is an important component of your needs analysis. How much stimulus you need to adapt depends on your current strength and fitness level.
-
If you're an endurance athlete looking to improve aerobic power and endurance we have the testing tools necessary to evaluate heart rate variability, lactate threshold and VO2 max.

Blood flow restriction training is a rehabilitation modality that uses a manipulation of the body’s circulatory system in combination with light-weight exercise to achieve training results similar to high intensity strength training (traditional heavy weight lifting). The increased hormonal release we get with blood flow restriction has lead to healing of the blood vessel endothelium. Better healing and increased angiogenesis lend support for this therapy to be used on clients with cardiovascular disease. Improve blood flow to working nerves and help heal blood vessel disruption with this great therapy. BFRT has been demonstrated to release hormones responsible for protein synthesis and healing with light exercise. With this therapy you can safely load in a sports specific manner while increasing healing time. We use BFRT as a treatment tool 3 days post-op for ACL reconstruction, finger fractures, pulley injuries, and rotator cuff tears to name a few.
Advantages of BFR use are:
LIGHT WEIGHTS - LESS RISK OF MUSCLE STRAIN OR JOINT INJURY
LIGHT LOADS - LESS SORENESS AND QUICKERRECOVERY
PORTABILITY - STRENGTH TRAINING CAN BE DONE ANYWHERE
SPORTS-SPECIFIC – SPORTING MOVEMENTS CAN BE PRACTICED RESULTING IN FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH GAINS
